The goal of the Waldorf kindergarten is to nurture a sense of wonder and curiosity in the young child, while encouraging reverence for the goodness of life. In the loving and creative atmosphere of the kindergarten, young children acquire the confidence and discipline they will need for the challenging academic work of grade school.
The kindergarten programme is rich in storytelling, puppetry, song, poetry, regular outdoor play, cooking and artistic activities. Daily and weekly rhythms interwoven with seasonal celebrations support the children as they move wholeheartedly into play and learning. Crafts, handwork and games encourage the healthy growth of the child’s body. Toys, art materials and kindergarten aesthetics emphasise natural, simple materials, encouraging the child’s imagination. Through play, each child learns a broad range of cognitive, social and linguistic skills. As in all Waldorf classes, parents are encouraged to minimise exposure to television, videos and other media which might hinder the free and harmonious growth of the child.
Change in entry age for Cobnuts kindergarten
As many of our current children have moved on to primary school, we now have some spaces at Cobnuts for the next school year. We have decided to be more flexible about the age at which children come to Cobnuts. Those who are ‘rising three’ will be considered to see if they are ready to attend Cobnuts. If you are interested in a place for your child, please either contact us via the website or leave a message on the
Cobnuts phone and we will get back to you.
